This supernatural saga required theatrical style art with spectacular production value. We intentionally chose hyper stylized environments and rich, vibrant colors to bring viewers into this contemporary, fantasy world and to attract our current ABC Family viewer. The high end creative needed for a variety of disciplines put us in parallel with the marketing approaches of major movies and the big budget saga undertakings of other networks. The visual approach originated in print, then infused all of the campaign components. Ultimately, there were 9 creative versions of key art including character sells. The visuals were so well liked that they were used for the book cover of the TV tie-in release.
During the 2015/16 TV season, "Shadowhunters" was the No. 1 new TV series in Total Engagements (62.3 million) and ranked No. 5 overall among all broadcast and cable TV series. It was also the No. 1 TV series on Tumblr (6.3 million) and placed among the Top 5 scripted TV series on Instagram (No. 4 - 32.5 million) and Twitter (No. 5 - 15.3 million)
